Golden Ratio Builders (GRB) is a design-build company whose principals have decades of experience in the engineering, design, and construction of residential and commercial projects in MD, D.C. and VA.
GRB's expertise includes new homes, additions, renovations, and historical restoration. We also design/build commercial buildings, strip shopping centers, hotels, lobbies, clubhouses, restaurants, and medical offices.At GRB, every project we are entrusted with is an absolute privilege. We are professional engineers, architects, and master builders. We also hold licenses in most electro-mechanical and specialty trades.At GRB, we have always self-performed our work. We've built scores of projects brick by brick, entirely with our own hands. The current general contracting trend, however, has now largely evolved away from self-performance and into one of planning, scheduling, and managing subcontractors.Today's client must therefore select a contractor who not only possesses management skills but also has practical and technical expertise. In addition to our technical and professional specialties, having self-performed the building trade - from earthworks to roofing and everything in between - greatly enhances our skills as construction managers and ensures project efficiency, quality, and workmanship.
We never compromise on the quality and workmanship of our projects. To ensure this, our principals, who are award-winning master builders and craftsmen, personally oversee the projects. Importantly, our buildings withstand the test of time, which we view as a true benchmark of quality and fine workmanship. We do not cut corners; we build to last. In fact, several images of projects displayed on this site are recent photographs of buildings we completed over 30 years ago.
We believe that open, and frequent communication with the client are one of the most important tools for a successful project.We begin our process by listening to the client’s needs, and vision of their project, then design and build it in accordance with these expectations.Communication continues throughout the project, with regular updates being provided to the client as the project progresses. A single point of contact is assigned to oversee the work, from schematic design to project completion, and into the all-important phase of post-construction customer service.
We are very passionate about construction. The process of creating a project and seeing its conceptual form become a physical reality is a most enjoyable and rewarding experience.We also encourage our client’s input and creative suggestions, as we view the construction process as a collaborative effort between the client, the architect/designer, and the construction team. And while we admit to being “old school” in values, our construction processes are premised on a “new school” incorporation of technology to streamline the construction process. In fact, many of our principals are independent inventors who have issued U.S. patents in the technology space.
